Have you ever been curious about how a soldier lives in the field, or wondered what they eat or how they sleep?

Visit the Anzac Memorial these school holidays for a hands-on experience of a day in the life of a soldier.

Touch and wear real military equipment and uniforms with our sensory trolley and have a close-up look at a special tent soldiers use to keep themselves warm and dry at night, set up inside our Auditorium.

The Anzac Memorial team are excited to share their knowledge and guide you through all these interesting objects and what they are used for.

This hands-on experience will be held on Thursday 9 October and Friday 10 October, with two sessions per day including a neuroinclusive session each day. Drop in at any time during your allotted session.

Sessions:

  • Thursday, 9 October – 8:30am-10:30am (neuroinclusive session)

  • Thursday, 9 October – 2:00pm-4:00pm

  • Friday, 10 October – 8:30am-10:30am (neuroinclusive session)

  • Friday, 10 October – 2:00pm-4:00pm

This program is ideal for children aged 5+. Tickets are $5 per child, and accompanying adults are free. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. A complimentary copy of the Anzac Memorial Family Discovery Trail will be provided to each ticket holder.

The activity will be held on our Lower Ground Level. Entry is via Liverpool Street.

Neuroinclusive sessions

The Anzac Memorial will be running Autism and Sensory-friendly sessions in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. These sessions will commence prior to the Memorial opening to the public so that there are limited visitors.

Lighting and sound will be adjusted for a low sensory experience, with the first PA announcement occurring at 10:45am. Staff running the session have been trained in autism awareness and disability.

You can drop in and participate in the activities in your own time and do what works for you.

A quiet space will be available for anyone who would like to use it.
