In connection with Pride Month, this event explores the Library’s ongoing work to better represent LGBTQIA+ communities within its collections. This ranges from uncovering incredible untold stories to proactive collecting projects aimed at addressing historical gaps, as well as reinterpretations reckoning with the lives and stories that have been denied, ignored, or hidden. A conversation about visibility, inclusion, and cultural memory — the achievements so far, the projects underway, and the work that is yet to come.

This event is part of a series of panel discussions exploring the role of libraries, the work of librarians, curators and archivists, and the stories behind collections. From influential women who shaped the Library to ongoing efforts to address gaps in collections, these conversations examine the challenges, achievements, responsibilities for libraries. Participants also ask what the next 200 years could hold for the State Library of NSW.

This event is held in partnership with Schwartz Media.
