Pose for a fun photo at this colourful installation celebrating the Sydney Lunar Festival.
This installation captures the vibrant and joyful chaos of Thai tuk-tuk journeys: lively, bright rides laden with goods, family and festive supplies that fuel the spirit of community celebration.
In this work, the tuk-tuk becomes a symbol of movement, energy and cultural connection, reimagined at an oversized scale as an illuminated lantern installation. The fruit basket overflows with abundance and red envelopes cascade out the back, signifying prosperity, luck and the shared rituals of the Thai Lunar New Year.
Every element is designed to capture a sense of fun, vibrancy and joy, inviting you to step into the exuberance of Thai culture and the universal excitement of preparing for festivities.
The tuk-tuk was designed and constructed by Pink Cactus, with contributing artists James Jirat Patradoon and Amy Thai in collaboration with Thai business and community members. Artists Kitty Narod and Sun Phitthaya Phaefuang also contributed to early concepts.
