Join us for the first screening in Sydney of the award-winning documentary Ophir, followed by a Q&A . This is a unique opportunity to learn more about Bougainville and its people, who are still grappling with the destructive legacy of the Panguna Mine.
Ophir tells the story of an extraordinary indigenous revolution for life, land and culture, leading up to the potential creation of the world's newest nation in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.
After the screening, we will be joined by Kuntamari Croft, a Bougainvillean woman who advocates for self-determination for communities, and Luke Fletcher, Executive Director, Jubilee Australia Research Centre, to discuss the film and hear their thoughts and hopes for Bougainville’s future.
We hope you can join us for what is sure to be a fantastic night!
