Open Doors, Open Books, Open Minds is coming to libraries across NSW as part of Library and Information Week.

Join City of Sydney Libraries as we celebrate everything our libraries have to offer with a full week of fun from 27 to 31 July.

Whether you're a regular visitor or stepping inside for the first time, come along, explore, and discover just how vibrant your local library can be. Across all nine branches there’s an exciting mix of programs for all ages, including:

Ask a librarian

27 – 30 July across all library branches from 3:30pm to 4pm.

A moment for visitors to connect with the people behind the shelves. These sessions create space for storytelling, discovery, and those “I’ve always wondered” moments, from hidden gems in the collection to the unexpected ways librarians support their communities. Hear library staff share their knowledge, passions, and experiences and explore the deeper world of libraries through conversation.

Bookings at the links below.

Imprint: A library journey

27 – 31 July across all branches

An interactive map of all nine City of Sydney libraries. Each location holds a laser cut and 3D-printed stamp lovingly crafted by our team - drawn from a 1983 archival image of our Home Library Service Van. As you go from branch to branch each stamp reveals another fragment - an invitation to visit each library and piece together the full image along the way.

Love letters to libraries

27 – 30 July across all branches, with focus wall at Darling Square Library

A growing visual love letter to libraries. Drop in anytime to any branch and pick up a postcard, colour it in, add your love letter to libraries and pin it up. Across the week our walls will fill with personal tributes that celebrate libraries.

Spot our home library service van on the road

A fresh look for the home library service van brings a new layer of visibility to a long-standing, much-loved service. See if you can spot our home library service van on the road with a 1983 image on it from the City of Sydney archives - honouring the history of the service from 1955 to now and celebrating its continued role in connecting residents with books, resources, and communities beyond library walls.
