Despite having an Aboriginal origin name, over 55 per cent of barramundi eaten in Australia is imported and nearly half of Australians are unsure of whether their seafood is local or imported.
National Barramundi Day highlights the great Aussie farms producing top-quality fish and the amazing chefs and restaurants serving Aussie barra across the country.
To encourage Aussies to ask for Aussie barra in 2023, top chefs from 38 restaurants across NSW will once again rise to the challenge to curate special barra dishes for you to all enjoy out and at home.
This year, Chef Dan Hong has shared three creative and simple to make barramundi recipes for you all to enjoy at home. Follow us on Instagram to be the first to get your hands on all three.
Additionally, for all Sydney siders, we are hosting a free masterclass by Dan Hong at Paddy’s Markets on Saturday 21 October. Dan Hong, the dumpling master, will be showing you how to make the freshest and crispiest barra dumplings. Book at the link below: https://events.humanitix.com/dan-hong-barramundi-masterclass
Alternatively head to the National Barramundi Day site to find the closest participating restaurant who will be serving up the best Aussie barra dishes on Friday 20 October. In Sydney, restaurants include Mr Wong, Chin Chin and Catalina Rose Bay.
