Thursday 14 November 2024 from 7pm to 8pm

This performance will be a culmination of the solo work Matthias Schack-Arnott has undertaken at the prestigious Peggy Glanville-Hicks residency this year.

Weaving together live percussion with ecstatic electronic textures to create a visceral and hypnotic musical world. The performance is a continuation of Matthias’ recent interest in the entanglement of acoustic resonance and electronic sound, and informed by ideas of sonic spectres, musical traces and doubling.

Matthias Schack-Arnott is an Australian artist, composer and percussionist whose works span live performance, public art and installation. Over the last decade he has been building unique kinetic systems to create visceral and visually compelling sound worlds.

Described by The Guardian as ‘visually and sonically exquisite’, Matthias’ works have been presented by major festivals and contemporary art spaces including the Venice Biennale, Chaillot Theatre (Paris), Noordezon (Netherlands), Spring Festival (Utrecht), Brighton Festival (UK), National Museum of Australia, Sydney Festival, Charlotte International Arts Festival (USA), Melbourne Festival, Adelaide Festival, RISING Festival (Melbourne), Supersense Festival of the Ecstatic (Melbourne), Dark Mofo, Arts House (Melbourne), The Unconformity (Tasmania), Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, La Comete (France), Spor Festival (Denmark), The Substation (Melbourne) and the National Gallery of Victoria.
