Laurence Pike at Phoenix Central Park

Phoenix presents the premiere of The Undreamt-Of Centre, a new work for drums, electronics and chamber choir by Sydney-based musical polymath, prolific drummer, composer, producer and curator Laurence Pike.

Featuring voices from the Vox Sydney Philharmonia Choir, The Undreamt-Of Centre continues Pike’s ongoing exploration of expressive freedom on the drum set within imagined electro-acoustic landscapes, and his desire to connect with a sense of the eternal through music.

A requiem in memory of his late father-in-law who passed away in 2021, The Undreamt-Of Centre represents a new high watermark for one of Australia’s most respected creative musicians.

Along with his multiple solo releases for the UK’s Leaf Label, Pike is a member of Warp Records alumni PVT, electronic jazz trio Triosk, the UK’s Szun Waves, and legendary US/Aus avant-punk group LIARS.He has also produced and performed two acclaimed duo albums with legendary jazz pianist Mike Nock, as well as working with artists as diverse as Bill Callahan, Daniel Johns (Silverchair), and in the regular groups Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders and Sarah Blasko.
