Welcome to the June edition of the Sydney Poetry Loung, featuring poetry from Paris Rose and Arlea Whelan, and our incredible open mic! Join us upstairs at The Glebe Hotel for a night filled with powerful spoken word performances and heartfelt poetry.

Paris Rose
Paris Rosemont is an Asian-Australian poet and author of Banana Girl (WestWords, 2023) which was shortlisted for the Association for the Study of Australian Literature’s 2024 Mary Gilmore Award for a first volume of poetry. Paris’s poetry has won a swathe of awards both locally and internationally. She brings her poetry to life through multi-disciplinary modes of expression. Arlea Whelan
Arlea Whelan is a poet and award winning playwright who has had her work published by Upswell Publishing, Story Factory, Creature Mag, Lane Cove Literary Awards among others. An emerging artist and educator, Arlea has worked as a creative writing facilitator for Heaps Decent and as a freelancer in high schools, where she runs workshops for students from diverse backgrounds. She is a passionate mental health advocate, and is about to start working with the Please Stay Foundation, an exceptional and much needed charity providing and granting wishes for kids and their families affected by mental illness.
