For the first time ever in Australia, Tokyo-based hip hop turntablist DJ Koco will show how he evolutionized the playing of vinyl 45s. With shows at Womadelaide and the Night Cat in Melbourne, his Australian tour also includes an exclusive performance at Sydney's Red Rattler Theatre on Saturday March 16, 2024.

With sets that know no boundaries (spanning hip hop, Latin, funk, soul, disco, Japanese rarities and a whole lot more) vinyl digger DJ Koco (aka Shimokita) began DJing strictly with 7 inch records in 2011. First appearing on DJ Scratch’s ScratchVision in 2016 and in the Park Jam Series that takes place in the birthplace of hip hop, Bronx, New York every summer alongside legends such as Jazzy Jay, his name has since spread internationally, performing worldwide, across the US, Europe, Asia and now Australia. He was the only Japanese DJ to take part in the Technics 7th event held in Las Vegas in January 2019 to commemorate the release of Technics’ SL-1200MK7 with DJs such as Cut ChemistKenny Dope and Derrick May. In the summer of the same year, he went on tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Scratch for the Vinyl Destination Tour and stopped by more than ten U.S. cities. He has also released numerous funk, soul and disco mixes and is part of the unit Funky Soul Brother with DJ Southpaw Chop creating music and edits both together and solo.
