Join Hugh from Sinking Wines as he takes over Provider Stores cafe/studio space Maido and guides you through a range of boutique wines from Japan's emerging wine scene.
This one and a half hour session will deep dive into Japanese wine, giving you the opportunity to learn about and taste the unique and diverse flavours of the wine from this region. Of course you can't have wine without cheese, you will also be able to enjoy a cheese board as you sip, taste and delight in these delicious wines.
Sinking Wines is the sole importer and distributor of Japanese wines in Australia. Since 2018, our mission has been to showcase boutique wineries from Japan's emerging wine scene, bringing the unique and diverse flavors of Japanese wines to Australia. Our curated selection features vibrant, artisanal wines originating from regions renowned for their viticulture, such as Yamagata and Nagano.
Japanese wines are made from both vinifera and labrusca grapes, commonly known as hybrid or table grapes. Varieties such as Delaware, Steuben, and Niagara contribute an alluring perfume of ripe fruits and flowers, creating a sensory experience unlike any other. These extremely rare wines are delicate, and pair perfectly with the subtle flavors of Japanese cuisine.
