Inside/Out at the House

When

Every day, 7pm to 9pm Monday 1 May 2023 to Sunday 7 May 2023

Cost

Starting from: $10

Experience an extraordinary line up of musicians and dancers for just $10 at Inside/Out at the House, a week-long event under the stars as part of the Opera House’s 50th anniversary year.

The seven-day festival will feature some of the world’s most exceptional performing arts companies: the London Symphony Orchestra, The Australian Ballet, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Each evening, a different performance will take place inside the Concert Hall or the Joan Sutherland Theatre, while simultaneously being broadcast live to the Forecourt in a stunning open-air cinema setting with an outdoor food market and bars.

Set beneath the iconic sails and framed by the dramatic monumental steps and Sydney Harbour Bridge, audiences of all ages are invited to bring their winter warmers, get cosy and enjoy exceptional classical art and culture at one of the world’s most spectacular outdoor venues.

The $10 tickets will be available for the following select performances:

  • London Symphony Orchestra (1 – 3 May) makes a triumphant return to Australia for the first time since 2014, led by the revered Sir Simon Rattle. The LSO has a long history with the Opera House, first playing when the building was still under construction in 1966.

  • The Australian Ballet (4 May) will stun audiences with Jewels, a three-part George Balanchine ballet exploring Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds and celebrating the company’s majesty and spirit in the Ballet’s milestone 60th anniversary year.

  • The Sydney Symphony Orchestra (5 May) will present a celebration of the music that has moved and inspired Sydneysiders for half a century.

  • Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and Orchestra (6 May) will perform one evening of dreamy choruses and beloved songs from the Golden Age of Broadway, lighting up the stage with over 100 choristers.

  • The Australian Chamber Orchestra (7 May) led by Artistic Director Richard Tognetti will perform beloved masterpieces by Bach and Tchaikovsky, alongside didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton and the soaring vocals of rock icon Jimmy Barnes
