Have you always wanted to learn Indonesian but weren’t sure where to begin? This 10-week course offers a supportive and engaging introduction to the language — no prior experience required.

From your very first class, you’ll begin using Indonesian in simple, practical ways. You’ll learn how to greet people, introduce yourself, ask questions and navigate everyday situations, while gradually building your vocabulary, pronunciation and confidence.

Whether you’re planning a trip, connecting with Indonesian friends or colleagues, or simply exploring a new language, this course will give you a strong and enjoyable foundation. You’ll also gain insight into Indonesian culture and communication styles, helping you use the language more naturally and confidently.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this Indonesian: Beginners Level 1 course, participants will have developed practical skills and knowledge in areas such as:

  • Using basic Indonesian phrases for greetings, introductions and everyday interactions

  • Asking and answering simple questions

  • Understanding and using common vocabulary for daily life

  • Communicating in simple situations such as ordering food or making arrangements

  • Recognising numbers, time and basic information

  • Developing awareness of Indonesian culture and communication styles

  • Building confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing Indonesian
