As part of the Great Southern BioBlitz, join Dr James Macnamara, City of Sydney’s urban ecology coordinator, for a community biodiversity survey.

You’ll learn:

  • what the Great Southern BioBlitz is

  • how to use the iNaturalist app for reporting biodiversity observations

  • how to spot hard-to-find species and make effective observations for later identification.

What you need:

  • smartphone with iNaturalist app installed (available free on Google Play or Apple Store)

  • camera (optional)

  • enclosed shoes and clothing suitable for the outdoors.

What you’ll get:

  • Guided tour of the park

  • Experience making wildlife observations

Suitable for all ages and abilities. No prior knowledge required.

We're also holding a community survey at Federal Park.

Covid-safe information

  • Notify staff if you start to feel unwell.

  • Maintain 1.5 m physical distance from all people including staff.

  • Wash or sanitise your hands on entry and regularly after that.

  • Masks are encouraged when gathered in a group. Bring and carry your own masks to wear. Disposable masks will not be supplied.
