About Isabel and Elsen:

Isabel and Elsen first met in the unique improvised string ensemble, the Inlay Ensemble, which was established in 2019 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, they have collaborated on numerous gigs and performed at various venues around Sydney and NSW. Both musicians share a love of folk music and are eager to explore the genre through their respective instruments – violin and double bass.

Isabel earned her master's degree in violin performance from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2021. Her thesis and recital focused on Kurdish and Persian folk music and violin/kemanche music, including her own transcriptions from the genre and some standard Western pieces influenced by Eastern music. Isabel is a sought-after freelance musician, regularly performing with different companies and ensemble groups. With a strong classical background, she enjoys orchestral playing and is a passionate violin teacher.

Elsen Price is one of Australia's leading double bass players. At 18, he won an audition for the NSW Police Band, performing at high-profile events such as Australia Day at Darling Harbour and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. He toured with leading Australian blues and pop acts before winning a scholarship to study classical double bass at the Sydney Conservatorium. Elsen has since built a successful independent career, performing solo and ensemble tours across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, India, and the UK. He has released several albums and recorded for numerous film and theatre projects. Elsen has collaborated with notable artists and ensembles, including Josh Groban, Mike Patton, the Sydney Symphony, and the Sydney Dance Company.
