From Harbour to Harbour – Lian Band Concert

When

Sunday 10 December 2023 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm

Cost

Starting from: $110

We are proud to introduce the "From Harbour to Harbour" concert, an extraordinary event that brings together diverse musical traditions for the first time in history. This unique concert will feature the world-class Aboriginal Australian musician, William Barton sharing the stage with the internationally acclaimed Iranian musician Mohsen Sharifian and his band "LIAN".

This historic cross-cultural collaboration promises to captivate the hearts of the audience, creating a harmonious fusion of sounds and styles that celebrate the beauty of diversity and mutual understanding.

And in alignment with our commitment to making a positive impact, we are delighted to announce that a portion of the income generated from this concert will support underprivileged children in Iran through our partnership with the Yarra Foundation.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City of Sydney for their generous support and kindness in backing this program.

The "From Harbour to Harbour" concert in Australia has been aptly named to symbolise a powerful cultural exchange between two distinct regions and musical traditions. Featuring Mohsen Sharifian, a master of the Ney-anbān and the LIAN Band, hailing from Bushehr, one of Iran's renowned harbours in the southern part of the country, the concert bridges the geographical and cultural gap. Their traditional bagpipe music, deeply rooted in the history of Bushehr, will blend harmoniously with the mesmerising sounds of William Barton, an iconic Aboriginal musician from Australia, who will share the stage in Sydney.

The choice of "Harbour to Harbour" as the concert's name signifies a journey of musical exploration across oceans and cultures. Music, as the universal language, transcends boundaries, uniting both musicians, their unique cultural backgrounds, and, most importantly, forging a connection between their respective nations. The concert seeks to create a harmonious dialogue through music, echoing the common threads that unite humanity, regardless of our origins, as we navigate the seas of culture and tradition.
