Freedman Jazz

This concert will feature performances by the four finalists for this year’s Freedman Fellowship award, all vying for a career changing opportunity: Holli Scott (vocalist, WA), Niran Dasika (trumpet, VIC), Sam Gill (sax, NSW) and Wilbur Whitta (piano, NSW).

The Freedman Fellowship recognises and supports the next generation of leading jazz musicians. Awarded annually, the fellowship provides $30,000 to support the recipient while they undertake a major creative project.

Previous winners read like a Who’s Who of Australian jazz, including Phil Slater, Andrea Keller, Kristin Berardi, Andrew Robson, Matt Keegan, Julian Wilson, Matt McMahon, Nick Garbett, Aaron Choulai, Emma Stephenson, Helen Svoboda, Philippa Murphy-Haste, and Hilary Geddes.
