forumprojects is a new gallery dedicated to immersive sound and video art. We aim to bring cutting-edge artistic practices to a broader audience, creating innovative pathways for experiencing contemporary art in a unique and engaging way.

We are excited to present our first season of six leading video and sound artists, running from October 23 to January 25. The season includes immersive works from renowned Australian artists, with each installation on display for over two weeks. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday and located in the dockside Commercial 2 space next to Wharf 4/5.

Our space features a small blackbox with an immersive video and multi-channel sound system, designed to enhance the viewer's experience. Each work will offer a unique sensory journey, providing a fresh perspective on contemporary video and sound art.

Inaugural exhibition: John Gillies' "Circle of Deceit"

Our debut exhibition features "Circle of Deceit," the latest masterpiece by renowned Australian artist John Gillies. This immersive single-channel video installation, complete with a rotating projector and 4-channel sound, promises to captivate visitors from October 23 to November 5, 2024.

Gillies' work envelops viewers in a vortex of swirling, haunting visuals depicting scenes of protest, where faces emerge through smoke in vivid shades of red, black, and brown. The accompanying soundscape fills the room, placing the audience at the heart of this thought-provoking experience.

Season 1:

  • John Gillies – Oct 23 to Nov 5

  • Philip Samartzis – Nov 6 to Nov 20

  • Laura Turner – Nov 21 to Dec 5

  • Max Lyandvert – Dec 7 to Dec 21

  • Oren Ambarchi – Dec 23 to Jan 7

  • Angelica Mesiti – Jan 9 to Jan 25
