Sunday 19 March 2023 from 10am to 12pm
Join us for a seasonal, edible adventure with renowned forager and environmental educator Diego Bonetto and stylist, designer, foodie and weed convert Marnee Fox.
Take a wide-eyed walk around the grounds of Vaucluse House with Diego and discover the abundance of native and non-native edibles that can be found underfoot. You’ll learn local stories of plant resilience, woven with cultural trivia, migrant perspectives and native wisdom. We’ll discuss the role weeds play in repairing and building soil and you’ll find out how they have been used for food, craft and natural remedies.
Building on your weedy walk, you’ll take the food found on the foraging tour to the table. Enjoy a tasting designed and created by Marnee utilising foraged ingredients that will include many of the species learned about on the walk.
This is a leave-no-trace event fostering respect and appreciation for what nature offers us.
Menu details will be finalised closer to the event due to the nature of wild food availability.
Please note, the tasting menu may contain dairy, nuts, eggs and gluten and will absolutely contain delicious edible weeds you never imagined eating!
Forage to Feast is a part of a food and garden series held at various sites throughout 2023. Keep an eye out for the details of upcoming events.
As this event is a walking tour, a reasonable level of fitness is required.
This is an outdoor event and will proceed in wet weather, except in extreme conditions. Please dress appropriately.
