This September we’re getting together to celebrate Chile como corresponde. We’re starting early so families and kids can come along, enjoy the day and be part of the celebration too — and as the afternoon goes on… se va armando el carrete.
For the kids, we’ll have puppets and storytelling about this very special date, Chile, our stories and our traditions. Because when you’re raising your cabros chicos on the other side of the world, you’ve got to make sure they know where we come from, po.
Then comes the music.
Re Menor will bring the full bloque depresivo for a proper sing-along and some collective suffering; Lily Guerrero will perform live cueca so we can get the handkerchiefs out and start zapateando; and Kachimbaz will bring the Chilean rock.
And coming all the way from Melbourne especially for this celebration, SORBO AMPLIO will be in Sydney with their Chilean cumbias to get everyone on the dance floor.
And on the decks… who else, po? DJ María Piña. Because if we’re having a proper Chilean carrete in Sydney, she had to be there.
There’ll be plenty to eat too: completos, empanadas, tortas, sopaipillas and lots of other Chilean goodies.
At the bar: beer, piscolas, pisco sour, terremotos and jote. So you might want to prepare yourselves, po.
The plan is simple: come early with the kids, meet your mates, eat something good, share a little piece of Chile and enjoy the cueca… then stick around for the drinks, the singing and the cumbia.
And if you’re not Chilean, come anyway, po. We’ll teach you.
Bring your friends, your family, your pololo, your polola and the whole crew, you don’t want to miss this party!
