Explore African culture through storytelling ,coffee ceremonies ,music, and art workshops at AYI Centres Explore your "Bloom" community event.

If you are looking for a regular place to come and hang out with others in the community and feel you belong, this is it.

Saturday 9 August event schedule:

  • 12PM:Pop-up library cafe uncovered Come and find a book in our collection of stories by black authors from around the world.

  • 1:30PM:Ethiopian coffee ceremony (2 sessions) Learn about the origins of coffee in an African storytelling format. Experience an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony

  • 3:00PM:Creative workshop Connect with community through an Artist Workshop facilitated by Guest Visual Artist Emmanuel Asante, who will teach you how to use coffee to paint various unique African traditional homemade items, architecture, symbols and landscapes. You will also learn how to write your name in an African alphabet (Amharic) script using the calligraphy painting form to create a meaningful artwork
