Wednesday 1 November 2023 from 1pm to 2pm
Join us for an insightful journey into Primo Levi’s Survival in Auschwitz, the much-celebrated account of the Italian Holocaust survivor, writer and chemist’s internment in Auschwitz concentration camp between 1944 and 1945.
Levi, who was just 24 when he was deported, had only recently commenced his career as an organic chemist. At Auschwitz, he turned his scientific training towards studying the strategies and attributes of those who survived and those who sadly did not.
Through a fascinating close reading of Primo Levi’s foundational work, our expert speaker, Dr Francesco Spagnolo, will reflect on Levi’s profound lessons of resilience, humanity and survival amidst unimaginable adversity. Guests will also leave with a new level of insight into the experiences of the Italian Jewish community before, during and after the Holocaust.
