Curator Margot Riley takes a look back on the imagined world of Elizabeth Cook, wife of circumnavigator James Cook.

Like many naval wives in the eighteenth century, Elizabeth endured years of uncertainty awaiting the return of her husband, followed by long decades of widowhood.

View relics from the Library’s collection and explore their contested connections to the life of this fascinating woman.
