The Peacock Film Festival premieres in Sydney! Join us for the Australian premiere of the Democratic Voice of Burma’s Peacock Film Festival – a landmark event making its debut in Sydney!

The Peacock Film Festival is a bold celebration of independent journalism and filmmaking, amplifying voices that must be heard from Myanmar and beyond. This year’s theme, Giving Voices to the Voiceless: Cinema in Action, shines a spotlight on fearless filmmakers and journalists who expose untold stories – especially in regions where free speech is under threat.

  • Where: Collaborative Theatre Peter Johnson Building, University of Technology Sydney (Building 6, CB06.03.022), Harris St, Ultimo (next to the ABC building).

Two inspiring film sessions with panel discussions:

Morning session (9am – 1pm)

  • DVB short film competition selections

  • Panel discussion: The Road to Democracy in Burma

  • UTS journalism student films

Lunch break – enjoy Burmese cuisine & refreshments. Burmese lunch packs, snacks, tea, coffee, and drinks will be available for purchase.

Afternoon session (1:45pm – 5:30pm)

  • Citizen journalist short film selections

  • Panel discussion: The Challenges of Freedom of Expression in Burma
