For 40 years, Australians have come together on Daffodil Day to raise funds for life-saving cancer research and this year, Cancer Council is hoping to raise $5.5million across the country.

When Daffodil Day begun in 1986, the five-year survival rate for people diagnosed with cancer was around 46% and today, that figure has risen to 72% with thanks to advances in cancer detection and treatment.

An interactive art installation will be taking place in Martin Place on Thursday, 20 August, to celebrate the day and look ahead at the next 40 years of cancer research breakthroughs.

Almost one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and every dollar raised this Daffodil Day will help Cancer Council continue to invest in life-saving cancer research. Together, with your support, it’s all of us against cancer.
