Cockatoo Island Storytime Special: Pidge's Poppies

When

Wednesday 16 April from 10:30am to 11:30am

Cost

Starting from: $5

Celebrate the school holidays and join us on Wednesday 16 April for an exciting storytime session. Special guest, Jan Andrews, will introduce families to her novel, Pidge's Poppies, and run an engaging workshop for the children in attendance.

In addition to reading a passage from her novel, Jan will do a book signing and lead a workshop where children will learn about pigeons and the process of writing her novel. Plus, Pidge's Poppies will be available for purchase at the Visitor Centre and each purchase comes with a special surprise gift from the author (one gift per transaction, while supplies last)! Learn about Jan here.

Ideal for readers aged 6 to 10, Pidge's Poppies is inspired by the true story of a pigeon who, in 2019, built a nest from red poppies at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. It offers a fresh perspective on Anzac Day, honouring human sacrifices while focusing on the contributions of these small birds.

Tickets are just $5 per person or $15 for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children OR 1 adult and 3 children). Book now to secure your spot: https://www.cockatooisland.gov.au/en/whats-on/storytime-special/
