The City of Sydney takes the health and safety of everyone in our city very seriously.

Earlier this month the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) advised the City of Sydney that contaminated recycled mulch may have been used in some of our parks.

We are continuing to identify sites, including parks and in garden beds on streets, where contaminated mulch may have been used.

We are also working to clean up and remediate sites where testing has indicated asbestos is present.

Due to the number of affected parks and garden beds we advise Clean Up Australia Day events should not proceed in the local area while this work continues. We appreciate your patience while we resolve this matter and look forward to working together in the future.
