City Art free walking tour: Hidden in plain sight

Experience Sydney’s unforgettable and dynamic display of public artworks on a walking tour where you’ll encounter artistic creations that are concealed in laneways, sandwiched between buildings, planted in the pavement and elevated high above the street.

This City Art tour will visit a diverse range of sculptures and installations, as well as digital, light and interactive works. Our expert guide will share with you the stories behind each work and offer new insights and perspectives on the cultural history of Sydney.

The Hidden in Plain Sight tour goes for approximately 1.5 hours, commencing at Macquarie Place Park and within walking distance of Wynyard and Martin Place Stations, as well as light rail.

• Who can attend: This program is open to all people. Tours are presented in spoken English and attendees with mobility needs should be advised that the tour may include uneven terrain, ramps and moderate inclines.

• Wet Weather: This program is held outdoors and subject to weather conditions. Tours will be cancelled if a severe weather warning has been issued. Participants will be notified of tour cancellation on the day. Please bring wet weather gear in the instance of light rain.

• Can I tip the Tour Guide?: Although we're certain you'll enjoy the tour, please do not offer to tip your tour guide. As we are a government organisation, City of Sydney employees are not allowed to accept cash tips under any circumstances. Your guide is a professional practicing artist and educator, paid in accordance with industry standards.
