The Korean Cultural Centre Australia is thrilled to bring the inaugural ‘2023 Celebrate Family Month at KCC’ event to you!
Did you know that May is known as ‘Family Month’ in Korea? It is a special month filled with many different family-related celebration days honouring family members.
In celebration of this special month, KCC is hosting variety of events to celebrate: Children’s Day, Parents’ Day and Married Couple’s Day!
(10.30am-6.30pm) All Day Event: Walk-in anytime to experience self-guided tour for the exhibition on view
(10.30am-12.30pm) Experience Korean Children’s Culture: In celebration of Children’s Day, this event will provide opportunity for families to experience Korean Children’s Culture. Each children will be able to wear children’s Hanbok and try out 6 different Korean cultural activities. Korean cultural activities will include: DIY badge making, Tteok Kkochi(Korean rice cake skewers) making, Ddakji making, Dalgona activity, Hanji mirror making, craft paper Hanbok making.*Ideal for children aged between 4~10.
(3pm-5pm) Korean Patchwork Workshop: To celebrate Parent’s Day, KCC has prepared Korean patchwork workshop. This event is for parents only and participants will be part of relaxing patchwork workshop making tea coaster.
(3pm-5pm) Jeju Candle Making Workshop: In celebration of Married Couple’s Day, we have a candle making workshop ready for married couples / partners. Participants will be making Jeju Island-themed candle, surrounded by beautiful fragrances.
(5.30pm-6.30pm) Busking by Hanok: An hour program which consists of Korean OST’s, Kpop covers and K-Indie songs. Come along to enjoy Korean music by the Hanok and sing along with us!
*Performance group details:F5 is a group of Korean-Australian friends who share a love for music. The group consists of 4 vocalists and guitarists(Minhee, Stella, David and Paul) and pianist (Jake), and together they perform songs of all different style and colours.
