Saturday 4 February from 2pm to 3pm

Dr Shuxia Chen, curator of China Gallery at the Chau Chak Wing Museum, is always fascinated by the communicative power of paper.

In this free floor talk, Shuxia will discuss how this ubiquitous material inspired her to curate the exhibition Sentient Paper.

By walking through the exhibition, Shuxia will explore how paper affects knowledge production, ideology formation and artistic practice.

Dr Shuxia Chen is an art historian and curator of Asian art. She joined the Chau Chak Wing Museum as its inaugural curator for the China Gallery in 2019, with rich interdisciplinary knowledge and strong industry experience in the GLAM sector. She is also Lecturer of Curating and Cultural Leadership at UNSW’s Art & Design and the David Scott Mitchell Memorial Fellow of State Library of NSW (2022). Shuxia is currently collaborating with Powerhouse Museum on an exhibition and publication on Chinese toggles.
