The much-loved Carriageworks Autumn Seasonal Market returns on Saturday 16 March 2024, marking the changing of the leaves with a free public program celebrating the finest local produce for autumn.
New South Wales’ leading growers will help visitors stock up on the freshest seasonal produce, from quintessential Autumn fruits like pears, persimmons and pomegranates to hearty vegetables like rhubarb, artichokes, pumpkins and squash, as well as a huge range of the best quality meats, cheeses, dips, baked goods, speciality drinks and seasonal blooms from over 50 stallholders.
Just two weeks ahead of the Easter long weekend, the Autumn Seasonal Market is the perfect time to stock up on festive treats, with a huge variety of hot cross buns and Easter treats on offer from bakeries like Sonoma, Berkelo, Flour & Stone and Crumpets by Merna, as well as superb handcrafted ethical Easter eggs from Chocolate Artisan.
The curated Autumn Seasonal Market live program, hosted by delicious. Digital Editor Erina Starkey, features a cooking demonstration with Sonoma’s Executive Pastry Chef Alejandro Luna, who will show visitors how to make the bakery’s famous, aromatic "Not Cross Buns” using artisan techniques and natural, local ingredients.
Autumn signals the annual harvest for many winemakers, who are busy harvesting grapes and making wine for their next vintage. Bacco Wines’ Simon Venning, owner of restaurant and Carriageworks Farmers Market regular, Pasta Emilia, will join
the live program to discuss his journey from pasta master and biodynamic farmer, into the world of viticulture and winemaking. Visitors will also be treated to a tasting of Bacco Wines, as the winemakers launch their new product at the Autumn Seasonal Market.
Carriageworks Farmers Market favourites, Hilltops Free Range, will keep the kids entertained with an egg-citing hands-on workshop lead by Dr. Katerina Kormusheva, teaching the traditional Easter craft of egg painting. Participants will get to make their very own decorated egg and at the end of the workshop can also take part in a traditional ‘egg tapping’ fight to see who has the strongest egg.
Admission to the Carriageworks Autumn Seasonal Market is free, running 8am - 1pm on Saturday 16 March.
