Waverley Library
Ron Lander Centre, 32-48 Denison Street, Bondi Junction NSW 2022
When

Friday 30 May 2025 from 6pm to 7pm

Every year in mid-June the renowned Irish writer, James Joyce is celebrated around the world. The 16th of June was the date on which the events in his seminal novel, ‘Ulysses’ take place.

Over the weekend of 13 – 15 June 2025 the Prankqueans, an Irish Australian artistic collective of writers, performers and musicians will transport audiences in venues around Waverley to turn of the century Dublin. Participatory readings and music of the era in venues around Waverley will offer opportunities for locals and visitors to encounter the larger-than-life characters and rich themes of the novel via music and dramatic readings.

Our Festival Launch will allow attendees to learn about and experience some of the highlights planned for Bondi Bloomfest. Music will accompany short excerpts from the novel and artists such as the renowned visiting Irish novelist Mary Morrissey will speak about and offer an excerpt from her recent Ulysses-inspired novel, Penelope Unbound. At the conclusion of the launch we will offer light refreshments.
