And Now We Know

When
  • Sunday 17 November 2024 from 2pm to 3pm
Cost

Adult: $15

This storytelling event will explore the life of a young Dutch girl, Liesbeth Prins, who was hidden by several brave family in the Netherlands during World War II. She was known affectionately as Liesje.

Liesje’s second hiding place was discovered by the Nazis and she was imprisoned with the person who had hidden her. Liesje was deported to Westerbork and finally murdered in Auschwitz with her parents. Fast forward to Sydney, late 1960s, Liesje’s cousin discovered some diaries written by Liesje’s mother. These diaries are now on display in our Children’s Memorial.

At this event, a series of coincidences will reveal the incredible history of Liesje’s legacy.

Hear from Head Curator Roslyn Sugarman; Museum Volunteer Anne Slade; Liesje’s cousin Carla Moore Kogel; and author of Dutch book ‘Lyda & Liesje’, Jan de Roos.
