AI for business bootcamp: simplify your admin

Get hands-on with practical tools and ready-to-use templates to make everyday tasks quicker and easier.

Running a small business means managing everything at once. From invoices and stock orders to rosters, customer enquiries and paperwork, the admin can quickly build up.

In this hands-on bootcamp, produced by the Australian Institute of Management in partnership with the City of Sydney, you’ll learn how to use accessible AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to cut down admin, organise your work and reduce day-to-day pressure.

This bootcamp is for small business owners in the City of Sydney area who want to save time and simplify how they run their business. No experience with AI is needed – just a willingness to try something new.

What you’ll learn

• Safe and responsible AI use – understand privacy, accuracy and ethical risks before you start

• Find time-saving tasks – identify where AI can help most, from invoicing and rostering to customer enquiries and stock management

• Faster email replies – create clear, professional responses without starting from scratch

• Turn notes into actions – convert rough meeting notes into organised actions, decisions and follow-up emails

• Ready-made admin prompts – access a library of prompts you can copy, customise and use straight away

• Protect your data – turn sensitive business into safe prompts

• Build simple workflows – map out repeatable processes where AI supports your business

About the bootcamp

This program includes:

• a 3-hour face-to-face workshop at Darling Square Library, Darling Harbour

• a 1-hour online follow-up session one week later to check your progress, troubleshoot challenges and share what’s working as you put AI into practice.

How to express interest

Submit an expression of interest so we can check your eligibility and learn more about your business. Places are limited and not guaranteed. To be eligible, you must:

• be a small to medium businesses (fewer than 200 staff)

• have a physical location in the City of Sydney area.

Choose from two in-person sessions on Monday 22 June:

• Morning session: 10:30am – 1:30pm

• Afternoon session: 2:30pm – 5:30pm

We’ll contact successful businesses with confirmation and venue details.

What you’ll need

• A laptop

• Access to a free AI tool such as ChatGPT

• Availability to attend both sessions – 3-hour workshop and 1-hour online follow-up
