Bittersweet Productions curates and performs rarely seen one-act plays by famous and forgotten authors. Our new season presents three comedies crafted with deft, and dark humour, honouring human survival, exploring themes of societal expectations and yearnings for companionship.

  • The Twelve Pound Look offers J.M. Barrie’s unexpected reunion of a divorced Edwardian couple, with his wealth and honour punctuated by her hard-won freedom. Director: Sarah Carradine.

  • Procedure by Joyce Carol Oates explores the ritual of laying out the dead with efficient grace and honour. Director: Sarah Carradine (Australian stage premiere).

  • In Steven Berkoff’s black comedy, Purgatory, we encounter the working actor in a dingy boarding house, eking out an existence and finding love. Director: Richard Cotter (Australian stage premiere).

Procedure & Purgatory are presented by Arrangement with ORiGiN™ Theatrical On Behalf of Samuel French A Concord Theatricals Company
