Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

It’s time to don your sparkliest stilettos for comedy, exhibitions, parties and one big parade. Mardi Gras reaches its big finale with the parade on Saturday 2 March.

Mardi Gras activities for rainbow families continue until mid-March. Storytellers and educators from the LGBTIQ communities will deliver storytimes at City of Sydney libraries to celebrate families of all shapes and sizes.

Sydney Design Festival 2019

Unpack design in all its forms in this city-wide celebration. Keynote speakers, design exhibitions, panel discussions, tours and workshops ensure there’ll be something for everyone. There’s also an outdoor design market with stalls from more than 20 local Sydney designers and artists.

March Dance Festival

Discover the diversity of independent dance practice in Sydney at March Dance. Over 60 artists and 9 companies in Sydney will present new dance works. There’ll also be workshops, dance classes, residencies, screenings, forums and talks.

March is Art Month in Sydney. Check out exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions, studio visits, tours and precinct nights around the city.

Don’t miss a special 1-night event at Green Square Library. The library and 7 other gallery and art spaces will be open to explore after hours on 14 March.

Plus, try your hand at a new creative skill at Pine Street Creative Arts Centre. It’ll be the site of a fun day of artist talks, demonstrations and workshops for all ages on 23 March. Learn fabric design, design and craft your own beautiful sterling silver jewellery or create a ceramic hanging planter.

Late Night Library: Talking Bodies series

The workings of the choreographer’s mind are revealed in a bespoke series of ‘dance lecture’ events. Held at Surry Hills Library, the program features 3 of Sydney’s most celebrated dance and performance artists: Julie-Anne Long, Bhenji Ra and Ivey Wawn.

All About Women

The 1-day event returns to the Sydney Opera House to ask questions about gender, justice and equality. There’ll be solo talks, panel discussions, hands-on workshops and live podcasts.

Take a free twilight tour of The Rocks in an immersive audio-visual artwork. Experienced on a mobile device, The City of Forking Paths leads people on a fictional journey through physical surrounds at dusk. Starting at Customs House in Circular Quay, the work weaves a trail through The Rocks.
