Get into the spirit of the season with our pick of Sydney’s festive displays.
Martin Place Christmas Tree
The Martin Place Christmas tree provides a perfect backdrop for a festive December. Choirs perform carols every night in the lead-up to Christmas and are guaranteed to turn the Christmas spirit up to 11. The GPO Dessert Bar will be back for a fifth year, so you can treat yourself to a gelato under the tree’s branches.
Christmas shop windows
The David Jones Christmas window displays are a Sydney Christmas institution. Stop by Elizabeth Street to see what’s in store this year. You won’t be disappointed.
A Fairytale Christmas at The QVB
With a 24 metre Swarovski Christmas tree centrepiece, Sydney’s treasured Queen Victoria Building is a fairytale this Christmas. Sparkling from any angle, The QVB is also home to the Enchanted Garden. Follow the spell-binding lights to see Santa Claus amongst the blooms.
Lights of Christmas
St Mary’s Cathedral is illuminated with a spectacular free lighting display every night from 5 December to Christmas Day. Sydney’s favourite Christmas tradition includes nightly choir performances at 7.30pm.
Canopy of Light
Your gift-shopping is illuminated with thousands of sparkling lights in Pitt Street Mall. Shop under the Canopy of Light, with the sounds of Sydney choirs singing your favourite carols on Thursdays and weekends.
Christmas at the Strand Arcade
In an ode to the beauty of the Australian landscape, the Strand Arcade is adorned in Christmas decorations inspired by native flowers. 27,500 individual twinkling lights will cover the ornaments from tip to toe, celebrating the arcade’s rich Australian history this festive season.
Christmas Bauble at World Square
Head to World Square to snap the perfect festive selfie. The square will be lit up with a giant illuminated bauble for you to stand inside of and capture your Christmas moment.
