Come to one of Newtown’s coolest bars for a night of local stories. You’ll hear tales from the past as well as the present, you’ll recognise many local landmarks and meet some truly remarkable humans. We have a cold case set in Camperdown Park, Greek biscuits, breakups and an Italian-speaking cat.
Join MC Daniel East and Little Fictions’ actors Eleni Schumacher and Kate Fraser as they bring to life new writing about one of Sydney’s most fascinating suburbs. Includes performance by guest authors Jen Craig and Jon Steiner as well as works by Emma Rose Smith, Julie Chevalier, Anne Maree Apanski, Hilary Hewitt and Tess Pearson.
Writing Down Newtown will be at Corridor, in the share-house style room that boasts vintage décor, street art covered walls coupled with cosy mood lighting. There’s a variety of food and drinks on offer, including imaginative cocktails and concoctions to some of Newtown’s finest craft beers.
This event, hosted by Little Fictions Productions and Corridor Bar, celebrates great new writing as well as the launch of Daniel Lethlean Higson’s Newtown ArtSeat based on Emma Rose Smith’s Derision For Homeowners Won’t Save You. Daniel’s interactive Newtown ArtSeat mural will be on display from May to July 2017 and will be launched at 6pm, 1 May on location at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre forecourt.
The Newtown ArtSeat is an Inner West Council initiative aimed at presenting innovative cultural expression. The Newtown ArtSeat is brought to you by Inner West Council, with support from Arts NSW and the City of Sydney.
