Women in Colour

A colourful, bright and bold exhibition.

In the 1990s, women emerged to become the dominant force in Aboriginal art and carried the movement toward international acclaim. Their stunning success pre-empted a global movement toward the empowerment of women internationally. For the exhibition Women in Colour, Cooee director and curator Mirri Leven has selected works that illustrate distinctive relationships to their culture, country and each other. Providing commentary on the role of the modern day woman and explore what it means to be an Indigenous woman in contemporary Australia.
Officially opening on International Women’s Day, Friday 8 March 2019, 6pm.

The exhibition is a celebration of women in art that will coincide with International Women’s Day 2019.
