Drawing Essentials for Beginners

Deborah Marks guides you through the visual language of drawing in a logical and simple way to help build your confidence. With demonstrations and practical exercises on the essential strategies of line, shape, tone and mark-making, you will work from small studies to larger, sustained drawings.

Deborah instructs you in how to draw proportion, perspective and the figure/ground relationship in order to create unique compositions with subjects that include still life scenarios and the life model. In the course both representation and abstraction will be investigated, enabling you to have an authentic experience of the creative process using a variety of media such as charcoal, pencil and collage materials.
