Welcome home our Paralympians

To celebrate the Australian Paralympians’ success

The event will give Sydneysiders a chance to congratulate and welcome home our athletes and gives the Australian Paralympic team a chance to thank fans for their support throughout the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

More than 50 athletes and medalists from NSW and across Australia will be on hand to greet fans and talk about their 2016 Rio experience.

Crowds will be treated to a performance from Tony Doevandans. Known as Tony Dee, he is the star of the Channel 4 We’re The Superhumans trailer for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. Supporting Tony will be a 14-piece jazz band conducted by George Ellis.

Fans can register for the event via Facebook.

Getting there:
Large crowds are expected, so the best way to get to the welcome home celebration is public transport. There are plenty of transport options to get you to and from Martin Place so plan your trip and visit Transport Info online or call 131 500.

Disability and mobility support:
A reserved inclusive viewing area for people with disability and mobility support requirements will be provided. Additionally, an Auslan interpreter will be provided to interpret official proceedings from 12.30pm to 1pm. Any guests requiring such considerations are encouraged to register. Please contact Paul Nunnari, Manager, Event Access and Inclusion, Department of Premier and Cabinet on 02 9228 5667, 0477 318 481 or email to register. Meeting point details and other information will be provided at time of registration.
