When the guns fell silent in 1918, the cry of ‘never again’ rang out across the globe. One hundred years later, we explore the dream of peace articulated and struggled for by Australians, through a highly visual and sensory exhibition of historic images, objects and ideas.
The exhibition is held at the Addison Road Community Centre, on the site of a former military depot where men enlisted for service from 1916, and also the site of anti-conscription protest during the Vietnam War and more than 40 years of community peace-building activity.
War is Over! Armistice and the Dream of Peace is an historic opportunity to explore the meaning of peace and how we might make it come true at a place that is part of the story of the Great War and its legacy.
School workshops and guided visits are available via firstname.lastname@example.org.
The exhibition is supported by an Armistice Centenary Grant from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the generous loans of collection items from Trades Hall.
