Saturday 28 February from 2pm to 3pm
For millennia, the Greek islands have cast their spell over writers and artists. In this lecture, Lucienne Joy will take us island-hopping, following in the footsteps of those who were captivated by these islands.
Test the waters with George Johnston, Charmian Clift and Sidney Nolan in Hydra’s bohemian enclave; find Captain Corelli with Louis de Bernière in Kefalonia; explore Homer’s mythical Ithaca and follow the adventures of the Durrell brothers in Corfu. Discover the influence of these enchanting islands and the legacy they have left behind.
Lucienne Joy has worked as a radio host, author, university lecturer, teacher and media trainer for over 40 years. Joy presented the Learning Curve lecture series Connection to place: where writers choose to call home at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2024.
Joy will be leading the World Art Tour Authors and artists of the Greek Islands in September 2026.
