When

Saturday 24 September 2022 from 2pm to 4pm Saturday 29 October 2022 from 2pm to 4pm Saturday 26 November 2022 from 2pm to 4pm

Presented by The Salons, this series of relaxed workshops celebrates sustainable art practice in the inspiring space of Enmore Road’s Black Cicada Studio.

In each workshop, you’ll transform trash into treasure, and make 2 creations to take home. Each workshop will explore different methods of sustainable artmaking, including surrealist hand-cut collage, abstract mixed media and found object bricolage.

You’ll learn basic techniques and stylistic approaches appropriate to each medium, with an emphasis on drawing out your own creative instincts.

Along the way we’ll talk about diverse approaches to artmaking, including compositional strategies, juxtaposition, colour harmony & dissent, the art of illusion and storytelling through imagery. We’ll also chat about the empowering role of artists as warriors of waste and voices of change.

No experience is necessary, just your curiosity to experiment and play.

Bookings are essential for each session. We welcome you to one or multiple classes, and bookings can be made on a casual session-to-session basis.

All materials provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own rescued and pre-loved materials.

Each workshop has been designed to work in sequence or as a stand alone event. Ticket price includes refreshments.
