Trash is a collaboration between Andriana Carney and Clancy Gibson based on the common link they have found in rubbish.
Separated geographically and by the pandemic, the artists conducted this project via long distance. Their collaborative work reflects their individual thoughts on discarded objects given the environments in which they reside.
This correspondence has resulted in a series of works immortalising what is thrown away. Both Carney and Gibson are fascinated with moving found objects into new spaces. Creating art about the trash that permeates our environments and moving these discarded objects into 2D works and installation. Both artists explore how discarded objects reflect humanity; rubbish can be seen as a relic of the Anthropocene and an intimate reflection of the individual.
All works in this exhibition have been made on Gadigal and Bundjalung Country. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We commit to actively participating in the decolonisation of this land.
