Jewish children were one of the most vulnerable groups during the Holocaust; of those who survived a significant proportion lost their parents. Child survivors Paul Drexler, Mimi Wise and George Sternfeld all survived with at least one of their parents, defying immense odds.
Through a panel discussion Dr Rebecca Kummerfeld will speak with them on the role their parents played in their survival, how they are honouring the history of their extended families and communities through the telling of their own survivor stories, and what they hope can be learned from listening to the stories of children in the Holocaust.
The Sydney Jewish Museum is hosting this special webinar in conjunction with History Week 2020. This year History Week is considering ‘History: What is it good for?’. Through the voices of Holocaust survivors, our museum looks to learning from the past in order to carry heritage and lessons into the future.
