Join early Japanese history scholar and translator Matthew Stavros for an engaging exploration of the original Taketori Monogatari (The Tale of Princess Kaguya), widely regarded as the earliest surviving Japanese narrative and the "ancestor of all tales." Coinciding with the release of the first complete bilingual English edition, the talk will delve into the story's language, mythology, humour, and enduring cultural significance.
