The Catholics

We want to take you back to the days when Shelly’s Man Hole and the Light House were the premium venues of the day

Lloyd Swanton’s exuberant and much-loved worldbeat/jazz ensemble, The Catholics, are something of an institution at the Foundry, and now they’re back for their first show this year.

Over nearly 3 decades together The Catholics have had some very special guests but we’re proud to say that this show will feature the return of the current, classic lineup.

Leader Swanton is on bass, and Sandy Evans (saxophones), James Greening (trombone, pocket trumpet), Fabian Hevia on percussion (flying in from Adelaide), Gary Daley (piano accordion, melodica), Jon Pease (guitar) and Hamish Stuart (drums) round out this incredible ensemble.

The Catholics, now in their 29th year, play toe-tapping music that rewards equally the head and the heart.

Every show is an exuberant display of wit, humanity, and breathtaking musicianship. The place will be jumping.
