The Big Idea is the exciting Sydney research event focused on developing innovation and commercialisation.
Co-sponsored by Sydney Local Health District and the University of Sydney, the Big Idea returns in 2018 to award $45,000 to an idea that will make a real difference in health. It could be a device, prosthesis, marker, app, treatment, piece of technology or system. If it has the potential to be developed into a commercially viable product to transform healthcare or research, it could be the next Big Idea!
Applications from across the Sydney research partnership were reviewed to select the 4 best ideas with real impact and commercial potential. These finalists will pitch their Big Idea to our expert panel, with the winner to be awarded $45,000 to progress their idea to the next level of commercialisation. Attendees will also hear from leaders with years of experience in health, academia, R&D, innovation management and commercialisation:
- Dr Teresa Anderson, Chief Executive, Sydney Local Health District
- Dr Marlene Kanga AM, Special Advisor to the Innovation and Science Australia Board
- Tim Hirst, Chairman at Gamma Vaccines Pty Ltd, Ozstar Therapeutics Pty Ltd and GPN Vaccines Pty Ltd
- Warren Bingham, Chairman, Investor, Future Asset Management International.
The Big Idea will be attended by researchers, scientists, investors, inventors, academics healthcare workers, students, administrators and members of the community.
