Resistance and resilience. Celebrating 50+ years of community-controlled legal services.
Join us at our free photo exhibition to see our journey so far. We’ll take you from the streets of Redfern, where staunch young activists rose up against police brutality in the early 1970s, all the way through to the modern-day fight for justice.
When we opened our doors, we were the first Aboriginal legal centre in Australia as well as the only free legal service of any kind. Today there are Aboriginal legal services in every state and territory, but it all started right here on Gadigal Land.
Let’s celebrate this amazing history of protest, resistance and community control. We hope you’ll join us at the exhibition – and on the journey through the next 50+ years!
